Visit www.mykoss.com to create a free account and get started.

STRIVA Devices connect to MyKOSS.com through a WiFi hotspot connected to the Internet. If the access point you want to use is secured, the password or passphrase is required to connect that hotspot. See the Quickstart Guide for more instructions.

How many Wi-Fi hotspots can I save on my STRIVA devices?

You can save as many Wi-Fi hotspots as you want. Your STRIVA Device will automatically search for an hotspots it knows and can connect wherever you are in a known hotspot.

How does STRIVA work?

STRIVA is a true Wi-Fi Stereo Headphone. 128kbps(or greater) MP3 audio streams are transmitted wirelessly to your headphones. These audio streams can be internet radio streams or served up locally using the STRIVA CAP with any media source connected to a headphone jack.

How much does it cost?

MyKOSS.com is free for STRIVA users.

Where will STRIVA devices work wirelessly?

STRIVA Devices work wirelessly in three modes:

1. STRIVA CAP Mode

Play music from a STRIVA CAP that is connected to a media source such as an MP3 player, smart phone or home stereo.

The STRIVA listening device must first be powered on in CAP mode to create this local network. This is done by holding down the power button until the teal light illuminates.

The STRIVA CAP is then plugged into the desired media source. When in range of a STRIVA CAP that is connected to a media source, STRIVA Devices will be able to connect to and play media directly from that media source. STRIVA CAPs and STRIVA Headphones must be on the same user account to work together.

2. STRIVA CAP Channel Mode

Play music from media source (such as an MP3 player, smart phone or home stereo) through a STRIVA CAP, through MyKOSS.com, to a listening device.

The CAP must be plugged in and powered on before the STRIVA listening device. The CAP will then be added to your channel list on MyKOSS.com.

The STRIVA listening device is then powered on in Wi-Fi mode by depressing the power button until the blue light illuminates and you hear "Searching for Wi-Fi". By selecting the STRIVA CAP channel in MyKOSS.com, you will be able to stream media from the device that the STRIVA CAP is plugged in to.

3. WiFi Mode

Play music from MyKOSS.com. A STRIVA CAP is not required.  In this mode, STRIVA Devices must be able to connect to the Internet through a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Wi-Fi hotspots are added to your MyKOSS account and copied to your STRIVA devices using MyKOSS.com.

  1. Go to SETUP > Wi-Fi
  2. Connect a STRIVA device to your PC using an included USB cable
  3. Click the sync button to begin the sync process.

How does the Wi-Fi Network Scan mode work?

After clicking ADD+ in SETUP > Wi-Fi, the Network Scan tool appears on the right side of the pop-up dialog. In order to use this feature, you must connect a STRIVA CAP via USB to your computer. The STRIVA CAP must also be running firmware version 0.2.1 or above. If your STRIVA CAP requires a firmware update, you will be prompted to do so upon connecting it.

  1. When the STRIVA CAP is plugged in, it scans for Wi-Fi Access Points.
  2. Found access points are displayed in the dialog box along with encryption type and signal strength.
  3. Click the desired network to populate the fields.
  4. Enter the password (if required) before adding the network.

You may add as many networks as you want.

What is WiFi Sync Mode?

STRIVA Devices are able to exchange information using an automated sync mode. Wi-Fi hotspot information is the most common use for sync mode. Sync mode is indicated when the status LED flashes green + blue. Any devices powered on while in range of a device in sync mode will connect to that device. Each device will display a solid green LED indicator and turn off when sync mode has finished successfully.

Begin Wi-Fi sync mode by going to SETUP > WiFi and plugging in a STRIVA Device such as the STRIVA CAP. A white "Sync" button will appear in the yellow sync bar.

What is a Channel?

A channel is a collection of Internet streams. When you create a channel, you select music genres that you want to play in that channel, e.g. rock and alternative. Or try an eclectic mix of Chill, Jazz and Folk. You can create as many channels as you want.

How do I listen to my own music (iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, etc.)?

Any media source can be played through a STRIVA CAP. Connect your computer or smart phones headphone jack to a STRIVA CAP to play your music wirelessly.

How do I update my STRIVA Device?

  3. Check for alerts / warnings from your security software
  4. Decrease your browser's security threshold

I'm trying to add a STRIVA Device, I plug it in when MyKOSS tells me to but nothing happens!

  1. Click on Spotlight search (magnifying glass in the upper right corner) and type 'java'
  2. The search should return 'java preferences' click to launch (java preferences is located in Applications/Utilities/)

Hardware Help

Charging your STRIVA device

STRIVA Devices charge via USB. Your STRIVA Device comes with an AC wall adapter which allows charging without a computer. Headphones will pulse green while the battery is charging. The LED will turn solid green when the battery is charged.

STRIVA TAP:

The included Y-USB cable can be used to charge both ear buds at once. This cable CANNOT be used for setup.

STRIVA CAP:

The STRIVA CAP will only display the pulsing/solid green LED when plugged into and then ejected from a PC USB port. The STRIVA CAP LED is always teal when plugged into the AC Adapter.

The STRIVA CAP does NOT charge when plugged into an audio device to stream music. The STRIVA CAP cannot charge and stream music simultaneously.

Turning your STRIVA device on

For STRIVA Headphones:
  1. Press and hold the power button on your STRIVA Headphones until the status LED turns blue, and let go to enter WiFi Mode.

Adjusting Volume

Use the capacitive (touch) strip on your STRIVA Devices to adjust volume. This strip is indicated by a raised ridge on the device. Pairs of devices, such as the STRIVA TAPs will sync their volume- you only need to adjust the volume on one device.

Im using a STRIVA CAP to listen to music and its too quiet!

Adjust the volume on the media device the STRIVA CAP is connected to. If your media device has an auto-volume limiting feature be sure to turn this off

For devices that have one volume control such as an MP3 player:

The volume should be set around 90% of maximum volume for best sound. Turning up the volume to 100% may cause distortion.

For other media devices with multiple volume controls such as a laptop computer:

These devices have a system volume control and sometimes a software volume control, such as iTunes adjust to 90% of maximum volume. Turning up the volume to 100% may cause distortion. Set the secondary software volume slider to a comfortable listening level.

A forced reset can be used to reboot a device that is stuck.

For Headphones:

  1. Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds
  2. Release the power button
  3. Press the power button to turn on the Headphones

For STRIVA CAP:

  2. Wait at least 15 seconds
  3. Unplug the mini-USB cable
  4. Reconnect the STRIVA CAP to the media source using the adapter cable
